2025-2026 Junior Program

The West Side pathway offers junior group tennis instruction for players of all levels (recreation through tournament training) and for all ages (3-17 years old).

For our future developing stars, we use Specialized balls (foam balls and low compression red, orange, and green balls) for their age, size, and ABILITY in order to train their roles and techniques properly. These specialized balls ensure proper stroke production and technique are achieved before transitioning to the heavier regulation balls. These regulation-size yellow balls will be used with older players (more advanced).

The ENTIRE WSTC pathway is ultimately geared toward Tournament Training. The pathway is based on a level system. While beginner-level players will work on fundamental stroke production and techniques, more advanced-level players will experience a high-performance program that is rigorous in its physical and mental training.

Junior Program ROGY (Red, Orange, Green, Yellow) Pathway at WSTC

  • Tots (Foam Ball): 3-4 years old
  • Red Ball: 5-7 years old
  • Orange Ball: 8-9 years old
  • Green Ball: 10-11 years old
  • Yellow Ball: 12+
A child can be privately tested/evaluated to potentially move forward in the development stage i.e., 7 years old eligibility for orange or green ball.

Sublevel placement:
Within each level, platers will be grouped into one of the two sublevels:
  • Recreation: Focused on skill-building, fun, and developing a love for the game; ideal for beginners or intermediate players who are newer to tennis or prefer a less competitive environment.
  • Competitive: Designed for players with strong fundamentals and solid tennis skills who are ready for a faster-paced environment, tactical instruction, and the challenge of testing themselves in matches against other players.
For our future developing stars, we use specialized balls (low compressions RED, ORANGE, or GREEN balls) for their age, size, and ability in order to train their strokes and technique properly. These specialized balls ensure proper stroke production and technique are achieved before transitioning to the heavier regulation balls. These regulation-size YELLOW balls will be used with older players (more advanced).
